IOWA IT IS TIME FOR HEALTHY SOUP


Iowa it is Soup Time!
This summer I spent 10 days in Russia and was served over 30 bowls of soup. It was good but it also was 100 degrees out. But now it is time!
After a chilly run or brisk walk, refuel with soup, which packs a nutritional punch without damaging your waistline. A hearty soup like Red Lentil Black Bean provides plenty of carbs, proteins, and vitamins.
As time goes on we will post some great soup recipes but for now let’s look at some healthy canned alternatives:
Health Valley Organic No Salt Added Minestrone Soup
It contains a mere 50 milligrams of sodium per cup-but still has great vegetable flavor.
Amy’s Organic Light in Sodium Split Pea
I am not a huge fan of split pea but this one is packed with wholesome, organic ingredients. Plus, one cup supplies six grams of fiber and seven grams of protein.
Campbell’s Select Harvest Chicken with Whole Grain Pasta
Whole-grain noodles make this healthier than traditional chicken noodle. Add a can of beans for extra fiber.  This one is my personal favorite.
